International Flavors & Fragrances

We place a strong emphasis on developing and delivering innovative and sustainable high-end solutions to our international customers. Our R&D team focuses on creating microbial production strains (bacteria, yeast, and filamentous fungi) and engineering enzymes for applications in food and beverages, biofuels, home and personal care, animal feed, paper and textile processing, biomaterials, and more.
The Leiden team, consisting of about 35 people from 13 different nationalities, has developed a protein engineering pipeline to produce improved enzymes for all business units. Recently, we also began enzymatic engineering of polymers for barrier coatings in food applications. Our team specializes in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Material Sciences, Fermentation, Bioinformatics, and Automation.
